Frontiers for Young Minds Evaluation Report

I’m a Scientist and Frontiers for Young Minds Zone ran over four weeks in June 2023, it was a collaborative project aimed at engaging sixth form students with authors of scientific articles.

The activity allowed students to explore the articles and participate in live chats with the authors. The pilot successfully involved multiple schools and authors, covering diverse topics from biodiversity to neuroscience.

  • Engagement: Students chatted directly with authors of scientific articles.
  • Diverse Participation: Schools from various backgrounds, including lower-income areas, were actively involved.
  • Positive Feedback: Students, teachers and authors reported positive outcomes, with increased interest in STEM subjects and better comprehension of scientific research.
  • Challenges and Learning: The project navigated challenges related to author availability and time zone management, providing insights for future improvements.

Overall, the project demonstrated effectiveness in fostering scientific literacy and enthusiasm among students, underscoring the value of interactive and real-world learning experiences in education.
